Ross E. Snider, PE
President

Mr. Snider joined the firm in September of 1997. He has over 25 years of experience in the design and management of a variety of civil engineering projects. His experience ranges from small structure replacements and intersection improvements to studies and design of expressway facilities with interchanges. Mr. Snider also has experience in construction inspection and land surveying dating back to the 1970s. His familiarity with all phases of project development and “constructability” issues insures that a quality design will be provided to the owner.

In June 2011, Ross Snider became President of USI, overseeing the daily operation and development of the firm. A primary focus Ross will continue is to work with the USI project managers and department managers to provide additional quality control and to insure that adequate resources are available to complete each project. Ross is involved with every aspect of the project, including client services, funding, agreement and proposal preparation, cost accounting and invoicing, feasibility studies, design, public involvement, right-of-way and construction.

 

Philip D. Beer II, PE, PLS, FACEC
Vice President - Business Development

Phil joined the firm in June of 1992 as Vice-President. He is responsible for Project Development. Phil has been involved with transportation related projects since his graduation from Purdue in 1984. He has designed and managed numerous bridge replacements, inspection and/or repair projects along with other related transportation projects throughout his career. Phil has experience with the Indiana Department of Transportation and has worked with numerous counties and municipalities developing projects making use of federal highway funds and other possible funding sources.

 

 

Michael J. Obergfell, PE
Vice President - Chief Structural Engineer

Mr. Obergfell joined USI in 1998 as Chief Structural Engineer. In 2008, Mike became Vice President of USI and is in charge of all bridge project development activities. Mike has over 20 years experience in bridge engineering, inspection and construction, focusing on the design and analysis of bridge structures utilizing reinforced concrete, pre-cast/pre-stressed concrete, steel, and prefabricated treated timber for INDOT and both federal aid and locally funded LPA projects. Mike has designed and managed numerous bridge projects for INDOT and Local Public Agencies throughout Indiana, including completing many bridge engineering assessment studies for INDOT. Mike has been an integral part of all bridge replacement and rehabilitation projects and is very active in the engineering community, serving on many high profile structural related committees. This experience has given Mike the knowledge to know what is required to complete projects on time and within the budget constraints.
