Land Surveying Services
Topographic Surveys for roads, bridges, sewers, shopping centers, recreational facilities and other civil engineering projects are carried out utilizing INDOT‘s feature coding system and MX Survey. Control Surveys for Aerial Photogrammetric Projects of all sizes are carried out with GPS, conventional traversing and digital levels. USI utilizes both conventional and robotic Topcon and Trimble total stations, as well as Trimble dual frequency RTK GPS units and digital levels.
Construction Management (Contract Administration & Inspection)
Serving as your representative during the construction process on projects designed by USI, or other firms, to insure conformance with plans, and compliance with specifications, to deliver a quality project. As the owner’s on site representative, we provide full time, as well as periodic, project management, inspection, and materials testing, based upon a project specific scope determined in consultation with the owner.
Construction Engineering
Location and grade surveying for roads, bridges, sewers, drainage ditches, building projects, parking lots, and utilities. Construction control developed and established using TRIMBLE GPS & TOPCON electronic total stations and data collectors. Direct downloading of coordinate data from software to data collector improves the speed and accuracy of staking a project.
Structural Services
USI has a full service bridge design staff experienced in all facets of bridge design. Our design professionals can assist with all of your bridge replacement and rehabilitations design needs, from the simple to the complex. Our designers are experienced in hydraulic analysis, structure sizing, cost estimating and structural design and detailing of timber, reinforced concrete, pre-stressed concrete, post-tensioned concrete and steel bridge alternatives for any size or aesthetic requirement. Our staff also has many years of experience performing complex bridge rehabilitation and widening projects on existing and historic bridge structures for INDOT and Counties throughout Indiana.
Land Acquisition Services
Engineering and Abstracting to locate existing right of way, right of way to be purchased, and construction limits for roads, bridges, sewers, ditches and utility projects. In addition, the management of right of way services including the appraisal, review, and buying of property on highway projects. USI maintains a full staff of surveyors and technicians who work specifically with right of way issues, developing plats, descriptions, and the management of sub-consultant appraisers and buyers.
Transportation Design
Our transportation staff provides full service design of highways, local roads, private streets and intersection improvements. Design features include new roadway design, roundabouts, widening and resurfacing, roadway drainage, lighting, traffic signal design and roadway signing. USI’s knowledgeable staff will also evaluate intersection capacity and access control features to ensure each project is designed to advance traffic safely and efficiently. Our design staff is experienced in all facets of highway design, from a simple intersection to a roundabout to complex roadway design.
Environmental & Wastewater Services
USI personnel are well-equipped to handle all your water-related infrastructure needs. Our multi-faceted staff is experienced in the evaluation and design of sanitary sewer collection facilities, water distribution systems, and storm sewers. More specific areas of expertise include master planning, design and construction of new facilities, rehabilitaiton of existing facilities, hydrolgic/hydraulic modeling, detention design, stormwater quality design, floodplain management, and regulatory compliance. We are also able and eager to implement the latest sustainable design, or "green" concepts where they are project appropriate.
Site Design
USI provides full site design services for both private and municipal clients. Our site design services include plan development for site layout, drainage design including storm sewer and detention, site utilities, pavement design, and overall grading. Our staff is experienced to handle any permitting requirements as part of the site design process. Large or small, our designers work with the client to produce a site plan that meets their goals.
